Paper & Board Coating
Paper is coated with pigmented coating colour formulations
to further improve surface properties over those obtained
by simply surface sizing. Starch is used to bind the pigment
particles together and to hold them onto the paper surface.
Starch may be used as the sole binder for the pigment or
in combination with synthetic binders.
As in size press applications, lower viscosity starch pastes
work better in paper coating. Once again, this lower viscosity
can be achieved by modification of the starch during manufacture
conversion techniques.
Dynaplak offers several starch products for coating applications.
Our R&D department can help costumers determine which
product would be best for their individual operation.
